Data QA Engineer
ProVision, a leading IT services provider in Japan, is seeking a Data QA Engineer to join their remote team based in Vietnam, ideally located in Ho Chi Minh City for occasional team meetups. This is a full-time, remote position working on an e-commerce project for the Australian market. The role involves designing and executing test cases for data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows built on Snowflake and AWS Data Lake environments, as well as automating test scripts using frameworks like Playwright. You'll collaborate with data engineers and QA leads to ensure infrastructure quality, validate data integrity, and improve platform reliability.
Candidates should have strong SQL skills and proven experience with cloud data ecosystems, particularly in testing Python-based pipelines. Familiarity with tools like S3, Glue, Athena, Snowflake, or comparable platforms is essential. Applicants with experience in automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress are highly valued. Knowledge of Airflow, dbt, CI/CD pipelines, or data governance and observability is a nice plus. A detail-oriented mindset and strong problem-solving skills will help you excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities
Design and execute test cases to validate data pipelines and transformations in Snowflake and AWS Data Lake environments
Perform data validation, reconciliation, and integrity checks using SQL and custom scripts
Test Python-based ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring accuracy, error handling, and performance
Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks, with a focus on Playwright for UI components (e.g., dashboards, data interfaces)
Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to test infrastructure setup, configuration, and access control
Log and triage defects, and support teams through resolution and release
Contribute to QA strategies and test plans across the broader data and platform teams
What You Bring
Proven experience in data-focused QA roles, ideally working with cloud-based data ecosystems
Strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation across large datasets
Experience testing pipelines and scripting with Python
Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS Data Lake services (S3, Glue, Athena), or similar platforms
Working knowledge of test automation, including experience with Playwright or similar frameworks (e.g. Cypress, Selenium)
Solid understanding of both backend data workflows and front-end interfaces used to access and visualize data
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving
Nice to Have
Familiarity with data orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt
Experience with CI/CD pipelines in a data engineering or QA context
Exposure to data governance, observability, or compliance requirements
Experience testing data APIs, dashboards, or analytics platforms
