Founding Engineer
Vị trí Founding Engineer tại Hustly.space tập trung xây dựng và phát triển nền tảng kết nối sinh viên và young builders, đồng hành cùng đội ngũ đưa sản phẩm từ MVP lên v1. Ứng viên sẽ làm việc trực tiếp với codebase hiện tại, cải thiện độ ổn định, hiệu năng và trải nghiệm developer, đồng thời phối hợp chặt chẽ với product để chuyển phản hồi người dùng thành các cải tiến thực tế. Môi trường startup giai đoạn sớm, ưu tiên tốc độ, tác động và quyết định kỹ thuật mang tính thực dụng.
Yêu cầu nền tảng full-stack với React / Next.js ở frontend và Node.js (NestJS) ở backend, có kinh nghiệm xây dựng API, làm việc với database quan hệ và hiểu biết cơ bản về cloud (AWS/GCP) và CI/CD. Phù hợp với ứng viên yêu thích xây dựng sản phẩm giai đoạn sớm, thoải mái với sự mơ hồ, sẵn sàng refactor và học hỏi cùng team. Làm việc part-time ~20 giờ/tuần, linh hoạt, kèm equity đáng kể và cơ hội trở thành co-founder.

@hustly.space is building a platform that helps students and young builders find teammates, collaborate, and grow through academic competitions and real-world projects.
- We’re close to finishing our MVP and are looking for a Founding Engineer to help us improve the product, learn from real users, and gradually evolve the system from MVP → v1.
- This role is for someone who enjoys building early-stage products, is comfortable with imperfect systems, and likes making pragmatic decisions instead of chasing theoretical perfection.
What You’ll Do
- Build & Improve the Product
- Work hands-on with the existing MVP codebase.
- Improve stability, performance, and developer experience based on real usage.
- Gradually evolve the system toward a more solid v1 (no big-bang rewrite).
- Technical Ownership (in a Lightweight Way)
- Understand how the current system works and help make it clearer over time.
- Propose and implement incremental technical improvements when needed.
- Help set simple, reasonable engineering practices that fit a small team.
- Product-first Collaboration
- Work closely with product & business to turn user feedback into improvements.
- Make technical decisions based on impact, speed, and sustainability.
- Help decide what’s worth building now vs later.
- Support Team Growth
- Share technical context, ideas, and learnings with the team.
- Be open to learning new tools and approaches together as we grow.
Technical Background (What We’re Looking For)
This is not a strict checklist — we’re looking for proof of experience, not perfection.
- Frontend
- Experience with React (Next.js is a big plus).
- Understands frontend fundamentals and has awareness of CSR vs SSR.
- Familiar with modern frontend tooling and component-based development.
- Backend
- Experience with Node.js, preferably NestJS (or similar frameworks).
- Comfortable building APIs and working with relational databases.
- Able to read, refactor, and improve existing backend code.
- System & Infra Know-how
- Basic working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / GCP).
- Familiar with CI/CD concepts (e.g. GitHub Actions).
- Understands system design fundamentals and is eager to deepen this over time.
Mindset & Fit (Very Important)
- Builder mindset: enjoys shipping, iterating, and improving things.
- Product-oriented: cares why something is built, not just how.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage chaos.
- Practical and hands-on: ok with debugging, refactoring, manual fixes when needed.
- Curious and eager to learn — growing together with the team matters more than knowing everything upfront.
Working Style
- Hybrid & part-time, prefer around ~20 hours/week.
- Flexible collaboration — no rigid schedules or heavy process.
- Async-friendly, with regular syncs when needed (not overly structured).
