Role Overview
We are looking for a Japanese Voice Operations Supervisor to lead and scale our Japanese voice acting operations for multimedia comic productions. This role will own the end-to-end Japanese VO workflow - from sourcing and directing voice talent to ensuring high-quality recordings and seamless integration into production.
The ideal candidate is deeply familiar with the Japanese voice acting industry, has strong connections or sourcing ability within the talent pool, and can bridge creative, technical, and production needs across multilingual teams.
Key Responsibilities
Japanese Voice Acting Production
Own and manage the full Japanese voice acting pipeline, from script readiness to final delivery.
Coordinate recording sessions (remote or studio-based) and ensure outputs meet quality and performance standards.
Direct or provide feedback on voice performances, including pronunciation, tone, and character alignment.
Talent Sourcing & Management
Source, recruit, and onboard Japanese voice actors aligned with project needs.
Manage casting processes including auditions, selection, and contracting.
Build and maintain a strong network of Japanese voice talent and industry contacts.
Workflow & Quality Control
Ensure smooth coordination between Japanese VO production and internal teams (Voice Acting Supervisor, Story Producers, Platform Team).
Handle re-recordings, pickups, and missing lines to meet deadlines.
Maintain high quality standards across all voice outputs.
Localization & Multilingual Integration
Collaborate with internal teams and freelancers to ensure Japanese scripts are production-ready.
Support synchronization between Japanese VO and other language versions (timing, delivery, emotional consistency).
Provide input on how tools/platforms can better support Japanese script generation and VO workflows.
Process & System Development
Develop scalable workflows and best practices for Japanese VO production.
Explore and implement tools or technologies (e.g., AI voice tools, pipeline automation) to improve efficiency.
Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with the Production team (Vietnam-based) across regions.
Provide regular updates on casting progress, production timelines, and risks.
Act as the key bridge between Japanese talent, internal global teams (Vietnam & U.S), and Japanese clients.
Job Requirements
Native or near-native Japanese proficiency with the ability to perform voice recordings when needed
Exceptional command of English, both spoken and written (able to work with international teams).
3+ years of experience in voice acting production, dubbing, localization, or audio-related workflows.
Proven experience sourcing, casting, and managing Japanese voice actors.
Hands-on experience coordinating or directing voice recording sessions (remote or in-studio).
Strong understanding of the Japanese voice acting ecosystem (talent landscape, agencies, workflows).
Ability to manage end-to-end VO workflows independently (from casting to final delivery).
Strong coordination and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple productions and deadlines.
Excellent communication and coordination skills, capable of managing communication between large groups.
Nice to have:
Existing network of Japanese voice actors, agencies, or studios.
Experience in anime, manga, gaming, or entertainment content production.
Familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) or audio editing tools.
Experience working in cross-border or remote international teams.
Access to or connections with recording studios in Japan.
What Will Make You Successful in This Role
Ownership mindset: You can build and run the Japanese VO pipeline with minimal guidance.
